Having decided on a concept, it is time to bring it to the level of product. This is done via a detailed design phase, where the functionalities, materials and production processes for the product are worked out. Moreover, the colour palette and marketing aspects are decided on. This phase also results in a prototype to clearly communicate the design.

User interaction
The user interaction with the machine is aimed to be as easy as possible. Starting with the removable parts like the coffee tray and dish holding the coffee disc. These can be easily removed from the machine and washed by either hand or put into the washing machine.
The water tank can be detached from the machine for easy refilling. For Mycelio it attaches to the machine with sliding onto ribs, but Mycelio Deluxe uses magnets for easier attachment. On the water tank there is a clear line stating the minimum amount of water, that the machine can work with. This way the user can easily see when they need to refill the tank.
As for the buttons panels, Mycelio features 3 buttons: espresso, lungo and a water / cleaning regime. Mycelio Deluxe has a fourth button also - the one for frothing the milk. There is no On/Off button as the machine turns on automatically when one of the buttons is pressed and shuts down after a certain time.
In order to make coffee, the user needs to insert the coffee disc into the small dish. When needed, this can also be removed from the machine and the layer below it too, these can be washed by hand or in the washing machine.
To make a cup of coffee with either the Mycelio or Mycelio Deluxe, the user takes the following steps :
(Fill up the water tank if necessary)
Place a cup on the dripping tray under the brewing head
Open the brewing head by pulling the lever
Place the Mycelio coffee disks into the brewing head

Press button of preferred coffee
